A Wi-Fi QR code lets guests join your network by scanning, with no password typing. Create one free for your home, cafe, office or hotel room.
How to create it
- Enter your network name (SSID) exactly as it appears, including capitals.
- Choose the security type, usually WPA/WPA2, and enter the password.
- Download and print the code, or use a frame and table tent mockup.
- Test with an iPhone and an Android phone.
Keep a separate guest network
The password is stored in the code, so anyone who scans it can read it. Put it on a guest network so visitors never touch your main devices.
If the phone does not join
Check the name and password for typos, and that the security type matches your router. Very old Android versions may need a scanner app.

Frequently asked questions
How do guests join with the code?
On current iPhones and most Android phones, pointing the camera at the code offers to join the network. Older Android versions may need a QR scanner app.
Is the password visible in the QR code?
The password is stored inside the code in plain text, so anyone who can scan it can read it. Only display it where you are happy for people to have the password, and consider a guest network.
Does it work for hidden networks?
Yes. Set "Hidden network" to Yes so the phone knows to look for the network by name.
